TODAY’S CHALLENGE:  I can’t believe it’s the day before Thanksgiving!  Today, Prep any food you need for Thanksgiving dinner tomorrow.  Make those pies, and any other dish you can make ahead.  Pull out clothes everyone is wearing tomorrow…do any laundry that needs to be done!  I always like to snap a good family photo on Thanksgiving day.  After you finish all the prep work for tomorrow, sit down this evening and make a plan if you are planning to do any shopping this coming weekend!  You can find all the Black Friday ads online.  Pull out the lists you have made with who you need to buy for and see if there are deals on gifts on their lists this weekend!  Remember, Cyber Monday will be a good day for online deals too.

Have a Joyful Day and I’ll see you tomorrow!

TODAY’S CHALLENGE:  Check your Smoke Detector batteries and your actual smoke detectors.  Are they working well?  Please, Please, Please…make sure your family has an escape plan and a meeting place outside in case of a fire.  Talk about it and make sure your entire family is up to date and understands what to do in case of a fire.

Also…stock up on Vitamin C and Hand Sanitizer…it’s cold and flu season!  It’s a good time to remind you to take care of yourselves as we get busy during the Holiday Season.  Remind your family members to wash their hands more often and don’t touch your face while you are out and about!

Have a Joyful Day and I’ll see you tomorrow!

Hope you had a wonderful weekend!  Did any of you celebrate Thanksgiving over the weekend?  If so, I hope your day was filled with great food and great company!  And just a friendly reminder… this week is hard for some without family or loved ones.  Be tender, show grace to everyone around you.  You have no idea if there are battles someone is fighting.  Show love and kindness ALWAYS and even more so this week and as we enter the Holiday Season!

TODAY’S CHALLENGE:  Take a few minutes to write down what you would like to do in December.  We talked about this several days back, but I want to follow up and finish this list.  Here are some great suggestions for you.  Make a list, then check it off as you do them!

  • Decorate your home for Christmas
  • Take a Family Photo (I’m going to do a whole post on what pictures to make sure you don’t forget… soon!)
  • Drive through the neighborhoods in your town and look at Christmas Lights together! Make some hot chocolate, load everyone up and drive around and enjoy the beautiful scenery!
  • Make a Gingerbread house
  • Sing Christmas carols with your family, or better yet…go Caroling and sign for others!  Or visit a Nursing home and sign for the older people there.
  • Make baked goods to share with others
  • Choose a family in need and do something nice for them
  • Read the Christmas Story from the Bible together (many times, not just once!)
  • Watch Christmas Movies (what are your favorites?)
  • Find some coloring pages on Pinterest for your children to color and enjoy!  And YOU color too….I love coloring and find it so relaxing!
  • Play some Christmas Games…there are some really CUTE Bingo games on Pinterest.  It’s something easy that ALL ages can enjoy

Most of all, ENJOY the season.  What are some things you ALWAYS do in the month of December?  Share in the comments below!!

Have a Joyful Day and I’ll see you tomorrow!

Jolly Holiday Prep 2K16: Day 90

We’re winding down our Jolly Holiday Prep for this year and I’m so glad you’ve come along for the ride the last 90 days!  We’ve worked hard to get things ready and in order to enjoy the month of December.  The next 10 days I’ll focus more on fun stuff to do next month.  Pinterest is so full of great ideas for family fun! So…

TODAY’S CHALLENGE:  Let’s go over what you should be finishing up or have done:

  • Address list up to date, Christmas cards in hand, stamps in hand and working on your Christmas cards (maybe you already have them done!)  I go back and forth on when to mail them.  Some years I’ve mailed them early, on December 1st so people can enjoy them.  Other times I’ve waited until the week before Christmas so people don’t feel obligated to return one to me if they receive one.  When do you mail yours?
  • A list of all those you need to buy for this year, along with some ideas for them
  • A list of your Christmas wishes for those who ask for it
  • A list of stocking stuffers you want to pick up
  • Christmas pajamas picked out for your family if you choose to do so
  • Recipes gathered of treats you’d like to bake, along with a list of who you’d like to bake for
  • Lights strung outside and ready to turn on next week after Thanksgiving
  • Decorations for inside pulled out and ready to decorate, or everything decorated already
  • Menu planning done for November, go ahead and start working on December now so you are prepared.

Enjoy your weekend!  Get a notebook or grab your phone and make lists!  Then you don’t forget things.  Being prepared is more than 1/2 the battle in anything we do.  I can’t believe this is the weekend before Thanksgiving!

Have a Joyful Day and I’ll see you tomorrow!

It’s time for the weekend again!  And it’s the weekend before Thanksgiving!  Looking forward to Thanksgiving dinner, gathering with family and friends and being extremely Thankful for all our blessings!

TODAY’S CHALLENGE:  Pull out your recipes for all your favorite Thanksgiving dishes.  Get them all together and have them ready to go when you are ready to cook!  And while you are pulling those recipes, if you haven’t already…pull those favorite Christmas Treat recipes out too.  You’ll be using those soon enough so we want to be prepared with those too.

If you are heading to the grocery store to get those last minute items for Thanksgiving dinner, go ahead and pick up some little things like sugar or flour for Christmas baking if its in your budget this week.  Picking things up a little at a time makes it not so overwhelming when you are ready to bake.

If you are gathering for Thanksgiving this weekend, ENJOY!  Take pictures and tell people how THANKFUL you are for them!  Treasure these times…

Have a Joyful Weekend!

TODAY’S CHALLENGE:  I’d like to encourage you to print out the Christmas Story from Luke 2 to read to your family on Christmas Day.  I made a document to share to make it easy for you.  Just click below (on the link under the picture) and print…Then it’s done and ready to go Christmas Morning or whenever you will gather with your loved ones.  Print it out, slide it into a sheet protector and keep it in sight.

Have a Joyful Day and I’ll see you tomorrow!

The Shepherd on the Search

Posted on Updated on

I came across this Shepherd on the Search and thought I would share it as an alternative to, or in addition to, The Elf on the Shelf.

The description from Dayspring’s Website…

Embark on a family journey and find Christ in Christmas! During the Advent season, begin reading the story of your shepherd’s timeless journey in a beautifully illustrated interactive children’s book, and let the fun begin every day as you hide your shepherd and your children find him in a new place along the search! The shepherd’s journey begins anew every Christmas season and ends on Christmas day as your shepherd finds his way to the manger. Make meaningful Christmas memories as year after year your family delights in helping your cuddly shepherd retell the timeless story that focuses on the true meaning of Christmas. Include with The Shepherd on the Search Children’s Christmas Music & Reading CD for an inspiring combination of fun, praise, and meaningful activity—a wonderful way to keep Christ in Christmas.

*I really like this concept.  The more I can share with our children about Jesus and finding Christ in Christmas, the better!  Thank you, Dayspring, for sharing this product.

Have a Joyful Day!
