Month: August 2016
How did you do yesterday? Did you get your calendars printed and filled in with all your events? How about your tubs/boxes? Did you get them marked, one with DONATE and one with SELL? Did you add 1 item to either of the boxes/tub?
Todays task will be for you to make a section in your notebook that says ADDRESSES. Do you send Christmas cards each year? If you don’t, I challenge you to send some. It doesn’t have to be a lot, but cards brighten peoples day and with all of our technology, hand writing cards is becoming a lost art. Anyway, friends and family move throughout the year. Start making a list of your friends and family, along with their current addresses. This will save so much time when it comes time to start addressing those cards! This doesn’t have to all be done in a day. Just start the list and add to it. I’ll give you reminders along the way.
My other challenge is to start another section in your notebook for MEALS. Do you do a meal plan? How far in advance do you make it? Do you not do any planning at all and just wing it? Write down what you had for dinner last night. We’re going to do this daily for about a month to give you a nice database to refer to and then we’ll plan meals for the months ahead.
Have a Joyful day! I’ll see you tomorrow!! 🙂
Welcome to my new series, Jolly Holiday Prep 2K16!
We are down to 125 days until Christmas. We will take the next 100 days to prepare ourselves for the upcoming Holiday Season–with the end goal being to ENJOY the month of December with your friends and family and focus on the true meaning of Christmas! I have so much to share with you over the next 100 days. Being organized and prepared helps everything run so much smoother so with that being said…LET’S GET STARTED!! 🙂
Today I have 2 things I want you to do. Do a google search or pinterest search for a FREE PRINTABLE CALENDAR. Print calendars for August, September, October, November and December. Decorate them with markers, washi tape, stickers, or anything else if you’d like! Then sit down and fill in any dates that you have obligations. Work schedules, school functions, sports schedules, dance lessons, family get togethers, birthdays, etc. You get the drift. If you know of Christmas dinners, Company parties, Family Visiting, add those too! We want to be able to glance at our calendars and know what we have going on! That will help with over scheduling ourselves in the coming months. Once you are done, slide them into a page protector and add them to your binder! These calendars will remain in the front of our binder so we always have them accessible to look at.
Now, if you are a die hard techie and use your phone or tablet for your calendar, great! Do the same…get everything you have going until the end of the year in your calendar. And if you have a great system, PLEASE SHARE! I’m trying to find a good system. We have a large family and I need to be able to sync us all together if use technology. (iPhones/Ipads are what we use around here)
Ok, once you have that done, the next task is simple. We all have things to declutter, right? Please tell me I’m not the only one? 😉 I want you to find 2 boxes or tubs or whatever you want and make 2 labels. One that says SELL and one that says DONATE. I’m giving you the simple challenge to declutter 100 things out of your home–that’s just 1 thing per day during this challenge. Whether you SELL it at a garage sale, online through a Facebook Yard Sale page or Craigslist or DONATE it to someone in need or a local charity. That’s up to you! Selling helps bring in some extra cash for holiday purchases, Donating can be used to help someone else and also as a tax deduction.
So, now for the fun part…
use hash tag #JollyHolidayPrep2K16 and post your pictures of what you did today! Encourage others to join in on our challenge.
Leave me a comment here or tag me on social media. I love seeing what you do. And, it might give someone else some inspiration too!

Pssst. Hey you…can I have your attention? Summer is winding down, School is starting back up the Farmers will be starting Harvest soon! With that comes business new routines, new schedules, fall sports and something else…
Take a peek over to your right, do you see that happy and sweet Santa face? He’s got a message for you, 129 days until Christmas. That may seem like a long time away, but guess what…it’s really not that far away–just under 18 weeks to go! On Monday, we’ll be down to 125 days and I’ll be launching my new series: Jolly Holiday Prep 2K16. In this series, we will take the next 100 days to do simple tasks that will prepare you for the upcoming Holiday Season. We’ll make lists & check them twice (or three or four times), we’ll share shopping tips, ideas and DEALS, we’ll meal plan, make baking plans and SO MUCH MORE. We’ll be ready and Thankful for Thanksgiving November 24th and put some finishing touches on the series and you’ll be ready to approach December organized, refreshed and able to truly focus on the Reason for the Season!
I’ll approach my organization with paper & pencil/pen/marker. That’s just me…I’m a visual person and like to look at my calendar, lists, etc on paper in front of me. HOWEVER, don’t worry–you can easily stay organized on your phone/tablet/computer as well. I hope those of you that will be using your phone/tablet/computer will share, along the way, your best ways of using technology to keep organized…Maybe I’ll find a new app along the way to help me covert! I’m certainly open to learning something new, I’d love to have everything at my fingertips on my phone (I’m an iPhone user). I just haven’t found the best solution…YET! Surely, I’m not alone.
For Monday….grab a binder, some loose leaf paper, page protectors and your favorite writing instrument and join me to get started on your JOLLY HOLIDAY PREP 2K16! I can’t wait!
Have a Joyful Day and I’ll see you Monday! 🙂
