Jolly Holiday Prep 2K16: Day 40

Posted on

TODAY’S CHALLENGE:  You worked on your menu plan for the month of October, hope you were able to get it done!  So, today…make a grocery list and go pick up what you need.  Being prepared is half the battle…if you don’t have the groceries on hand, you can’t make dinner and then it throws everything off for the evening.  You can do this!  If you only get groceries for tomorrow’s dinner, do it.  You’ll be glad you did.  🙂

How do you grocery shop?  Weekly, Bi-weekly, Monthly or every few days?  Let me know in the comments below!

Have a Joyful Day and I’ll see you tomorrow…

Now that your kitchen is nice and clean, let’s work on planning our meals for October!

TODAY’S CHALLENGE:  Back on Day 2, I asked you to write down what you had for dinner each day going forward.  If you did that, great!  You should have a great pool of dinners to chose from.  If you didn’t, it’s ok!  Just take a few minutes and write down some of your favorite meals.  Today I want to you to plan your menu for October dinners.  Meal planning is so helpful, you don’t scramble at 6 o’clock wondering what you are going to fix.  First thing you should do is check your calendar for events you have during the month.  Sports, School Functions, meetings, etc.  Decide dinner for those nights first.  Make dinner something easy so you aren’t driving through a fast food restaurant at the last minute.  Make those days crock pot meals, or something simple you can make ahead.  Don’t make it difficult, just be prepared!  Print a calendar for menu planning only.  Put it on your fridge, inside a cabinet door, in your pantry…just put it someplace where you will see it every day.  And another tip, once you have it all filled out, take a picture of it on your phone so you can pull it up if you are out running errands and need to know what’s for dinner that night!

Here is a printable for you to use (click on the link below), or find something that works for YOU!

Let’s finish up the kitchen today!

TODAY’S CHALLENGE:  Now that we’ve cleaned out the insides of our cabinets and drawers, let’s finish up the kitchen area!  Today, wipe down all of the outsides of your cabinets, wipe down all of your appliances and give your countertops a good scrubbing!  After finishing all that, clean your floor!  Your kitchen should be nice and clean now…Squeaky clean! 🙂

TODAY’S CHALLENGE: Lets tackle the Kitchen cabinets today!  Clean them out, straighten them up and get rid of anything you aren’t using.  Add things to your DONATE or SELL boxes and get things nice and tidy.  Being able to find what you are looking for is always helpful and much less stressful!

Jolly Holiday Prep 2K16: Day 36

Happy Monday!  It’s a crisp and cool day in my neck of the woods today, how about you?  How’s your day going?  I’m excited because we’ve completed 5 weeks so far on our mission to be organized and ready for December 1st!  We’re down to just under 13 weeks until Christmas…just 90 days!  But also just a little over 8 weeks until Thanksgiving!  This week we are going to work in our kitchens to get them prepared for Thanksgiving AND Christmas!

TODAY’S CHALLENGE:  Let’s start with the drawers only in your kitchen.  Go through them.  Organize them.  Get rid of things you don’t use any more.  Don’t forget your DONATE or SELL boxes.  No need for extra clutter.  Being able to find what you are looking for is so important.  It makes things run smoothly.  Get those drawers cleaned out!

I also want you to be thinking about what you will be preparing for Thanksgiving dinner.  We’ll talk about that more towards the end of the week so just be thinking about it!

Have a Joyful Day and I’ll see you tomorrow!

We’ve worked on photos all week.  I hope you have made a lot of progress in getting your pictures organized!  Photos are so important… So is printing them.  Enjoy looking at them.  Remember the stories behind the photo.  We’ll finish off this week with another photo challenge 🙂

TODAY’S CHALLENGE: Consider putting pictures in to Scrapbooks!  Look at your pictures instead of just storing them on your computer or phone.  Pull some pictures you have printed this week and make a scrapbook to leave sitting out!  I promise you’ll love having it.  You have so many options when Scrapbooking, but my current favorite is Project Life by Becky Higgins.  The system uses a 3 ring Binder and various pages to keep your photos in.  She has kits that have the cutest cards that slide right into the slots to decorate with!  You can make it your own!  My Walmart even sells the refill pages so that makes it handy!  There is also a Project Life App that you can make your pages on your phone, have them printed and then just slide the pages into a protector page and put it directly into an album.  The options are endless!

Here are some of the products in the Project Life Line…

There are other similar systems out there.

Moving right along with our photos!

Today’s Challenge:  While you are organizing your pictures digitally and printing them, lets talk about storing them.  Today we’ll put printed pictures in storage boxes.  How will you store them?  Do you want to put them in chronological order, by child, by event?  Decide and start getting those pictures that you have printed organized.  Here are some of my favorite storage options below…
